Engineered Wood floors

Unlike its solid wood counterpart, engineered flooring is made from several layers which are combined and finished with a layer of hardwood on top. This engineered wooden flooring is manufactured in a cross-ply format which offers improved stability.
The floor can be laid 'floating' (on top of an underlay) because it is less exposed to the natural movement which occurs with changes in temperature and humidity. Even though engineered floors are often a little more expensive than the solid equivalent, the total installation cost is usually less.
